Barcelona got their la liga season back underway with a convincing win over relegation threatened side real Mallorca after the covid-19 pandemic caused football around the world to come to a stand still.
After a 98 day long wait for Barcelona to get a feel of what they are known to do best, which is play football,Messi looked at home as he pulled the strings for his side who started the game with an attack consisting of A.Greizmann,M.Braithwaite and L.messi as star striker Luis Suarez who have only recovered from a long term injury named among the substitutes.
The game started in emphatic fashion for the away side who took the lead just 65 seconds into the contest when Arturo Vidal latched unto a Jordi Alba cross to make the score one nil to the away side.barcelona dictated the tempo of the game from that point and they made their dominance count when Lionel Messi layed on a pass for Braithwaite who started in the place of suarez to score his first goal for the club in the 37th minute .
The second half started with Barcelona taking off from where they left off in the first half and could have added to the score line but for the impressive performance of the real Mallorca goalkeeper Reina in goal but Messi and co were not to be denied when Messi assisted Jordi Alba to slot home in the 79th minute his second assist of the game.
Messi rounded of the scoring in the 93rd minute when he stroked home from close range.the referee soon brought proceedings to an end there after and Messi and co celebrated opening a 5 point lead at the top of La Liga before Real Madrid play Eibar on Sunday 14th June 2020.
