Black Stars Of Ghana Lose Opening Game In 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations

Morocco have defeated Ghana in the opening game of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Sofane Boufal scored the only goal to ensure his team earns three points in the group. 

Ghana and Morocco made a good start, exchanging passes while looking for a way to grab the lead. Many attempts were made in the opening 20 minutes but the two teams were shy of goals. Dede Ayew and his colleagues played as a unit as they came under pressure on some occasions. 

Black Stars had their own story to tell as they made runs on the lines through Kamaldeen Sulemana but defenders will not allow him to penetrate and set up Jordan Ayew. Ghana and Morocco continued to push men forward after half hour mark as they gave an end to end action. Attempts at goal that came eluded both teams as the first half ended barren. Teams worked their way through but not convincing for a goal. 

Thomas Partey conceded a free kick at the edge of the box as soon as the second half started but the resulting kick was sent away by the defenders.Ghana quickly launched attack through Joseph Paintsil but the forward impeded his marker in the process. Abukhal made a run on the line for Morocco but his shot went across the goal post. 

In the 53rd minutes, Joseph Paintsil got into a counter attack for Ghana only to give his ball to the opposing player Adam Hasina. 

On the hour mark, Baba Abdul Rahman threw a long ball in but the final connection was intercepted by Morocco.Black Stars skipper Dede Ayew was booked for challenge on his marker, the resulting kick turned in a counter for Ghana but Dede Ayew had his shot going wide. 

With 20 minutes to end proceedings, both sides had played their hearts out for glory but were yet to find the back of the net. 

In the 72nd minutes, Alexander Djiku spread a long ball to Kamaldeen Sulemana who laid it over to Joseph Paintsil but his goal bound shot at the top comer was saved by goalkeeper Bounou. 

Thomas Partey sent a good ball for Ghana through free kick but opposing players prevented it from scoring as Dede Ayew and his marker got injured. 

In the 82nd minute Morocco broke the deadlock through Sofane Boufal. They worked their out on the right side of attack which landed in Ghana’s box and Boufal expertly shot into the net, beating goalkeeper Joseph Wollacot. 

3 minutes later Milovan Rajevac introduced Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Benjamin Tetteh and Daniel Kofi Kyereh. 

Ghana tried to get a point but was late as Morocco ended the entire proceedings with a goal.
