On Sunday 17 October 2021, Accra Hearts of Oak are set to take on Wydad Athletic Casablanca in a CAF Champions League game. The first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium will be a showdown between the Ghanaian champions and the Moroccan side.
Accra Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu and his charges have been going through necessary rudiments to pull off a better outcome on the day.
Last Sunday at the same venue, the Ghanaian representative took on a lower tier side in a preparatory match as a form of assessing the strength and readiness of the team.
Following their performance and strategy for the preliminary game against CI Kamsar, the technical department is bound on making various changes in previous approach.
Respective areas such as goalkeeping, defense, midfield and attack are being worked on to fortify the team. This will include working on the psyche of players due to long-standing history between Ghanaian clubs and clubs from the Northern part of Africa. Clubs from Ghana have had to endure tough moments in encounters with teams from the North. That will hint the coach and his assistants what ought to be done ahead of the game.
With three days to the game, Accra Hearts of Oak are expected to be putting finishing touches to whatever plans and strategy they intend to embark upon on Sunday.
Director of Communication for Accra Hearts of Oak Opare Addo, states that the team is brimmed with confidence going into the fixture. Coaches and players are ever ready to battle for the success of the team.
“I dwell on the confidence level of the team that we have. Everybody in the team is ready. We don’t have fear. We hope to reproduce all that we have practiced at the training grounds on the day.”
Club officials are bent on motivating the team to come out with a convincing win.
“Aside the collective team work, individually players are ready to hold the responsibility high. In addition to this, the motivation from the board and officials is high.Realistically the players that got injured a while ago are back. Robert Addo Sowah and Caleb Amankwaa are coming back. We have players available.”
The playing body are required to prove their worth by outplaying the opponent and scoring goals in the end. The stakes are high as the team looks forward to making it into the group stage of CAF inter club competition, hence no room for blunders.
