Caleb Amankwa’s 89th minute goal against AS Real Bamako was not enough as Hearts of Oak bowed out of CAF Confederation Cup.

The Phobians had suffered a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Bamako and the 1-0 win in the second leg meant a 3-1 aggregate loss for the millennium champions.
David Ocloo who is assistant coach of Hearts of Oak was expecting to win in order to redeem their lost image but that did not materialize at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians were a toast of their fans last two seasons where they swept the board, beating the odds to claim a domestic treble.
The won the league title and went on to claim the MTN FA Cup but the Africa campaign was nothing to write home about.
The exited both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup in a dramatic fashion much to the chagrin of the fans.
