Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two of the most highly rated players in this era. Cristiano Ronaldo, at some point was the most expensive player in the World. For the fact that Lionel Messi has never signed for any other club aside FC Barcelona, his level of expensiveness is not known. However, there's always a market value of a player but sometimes, players can be bought at a price which is either above or below the market value.
According to a football observatory platform known as CIES, neither Messi nor Ronaldo are part of the ten players with the highest market values at the moment. According to CIES, here are the players with the highest market values;
1. Marcus Rashford with a market value of €165M
2. Erling Haaland with €152M
3. Trent Alexander-Anold with €151M
4. Bruno Fernandez with €151M
5. Kylian Mbappé with €149M etc.
What was more astonishing than the fact that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo we're excluded in the list above is the amount that CIES observatory presented as the market values of each of the two football stars. Although they didn't make the list above, they could have been given a market value which is a little above, equal or ,at least, a little below €100M, but that wasn't so. According to CIES, the market value of Lionel Messi is €54M and the market value of Cristiano Ronaldo is €47M.
