Head coach of Real Tamale United, Shaibu Tanko will not be a happy man after suffering a painful 2-1 loss against Great Olympics in Accra on Monday.
The premier league returnees went down very early in the game when George Asamoah opened the scoring for Great Olympics under five minutes after RTU goalkeeper, Yaw Osei spilled a free kick from Daniel Adjetey. Raymond Grippman gifted RTU a penalty when he brought down substitute, Martin Akolgo in the goal area with captain Ronald Frimpong sending Great Olympics goalkeeper, Stephen Kwaku the wrong way for the visitors’ equalizer. Ibrahim Sulley climbed off the bench to rescue all three points for Great Olympics in stoppage time when he pounced on Philip Sackey’s shot to slot past RTU goalkeeper, Yaw Osei. Tanko Shaibu expected a better performance from his charges.
“As expected, our wishes were not met for that matter we have to take it that way. “Luck eluded us that’s what I will attribute it because we handled the ball so many times. “I should think we were the better side as far as the game was concerned,” Shaibu Tanko told StarTimes.
Real Tamale United currently lie 13th with 20 points from 18 games and just a point above the drop zone. Their week 19 fixture will be a home game against Legon Cities FC on Saturday, March 5 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
