WC Qualifiers: Dede Ayew's Goal Sends Black Stars Of Ghana To 2022 World Cup Play-Off

Black Stars of Ghana have qualified to 2022 World Cup Play-off after beating Bafana Bafana of South Africa by a lone goal. Skipper Dede Ayew got the only via the spot for his side.Ghana tied with South Africa on 13 points but had their way through a number of goals scored. After a goal difference of 4, Ghana had scored 7 goals while South Africa had scored 6.

Prior to the game, Ghana and South Africa were tied to ten and thirteen points respectively. 

Jordan Ayew got Ghana going from the start as he won first corner kick, but the resulting kick was cleared away by the visitors. 

Following an attack on Jordan Ayew in the 6th minutes, Ghana was awarded free kick from right side of attack but Kudus Mohammed’s delivery went above bar. After making way on the lines, Kamaldeen Sulemana had his cross move across goal post. 

Jordan Ayew came close to goal but misfired to earn comer which was blown apart. 

Ghana continued to fritter away chances as Daniel Kofi Kyereh skied his goal bound shot.

As at 20 minutes into the game, Black Stars and Bafana Bafana had failed to break the deadlock with the former wasting most of their opportunity.

Clear cut chances evaded the two teams as the game was largely possessed by Bafana Bafana through to half hour mark. 

Ghana was awarded penalty after Rushine had pulled Jordan, which was expertly converted by skipper Dede Ayew in the 33rd minutes. 

Teboho Mokoena had his way over Baba Rahman to whip in a cross but was timely ballooned by Daniel Amartey. 

Bafana Bafana threatened through a free kick but Joseph Wallocot flicked to safety. 

Black Stars managed to guard their lead as they ended the first half with a goal advantage.  

From recess, Ghana moved into business with a free kick, but Jordan’s delivery went into waiting arms of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams. 

Jordan Ayew made way through markers to get free kick which he wasted it. 

Percy Tau announced his presence as he snakes his way through the defense but he was stopped at the edge of the box. 

Bafana Bafana worked assiduously for the leveler, piling pressure on Ghana but Black Stars had a good one with a counter attack as Jordan was brought down by Siyanda Xulu but the kick was given away. 

Percy Tau had his free kick traveled into the palms of Joseph Wallocot. 

66-67th minutes saw Bafana Bafana dishing out cynical tackles to Ghana.

Kamaldeen Sulemana caused Mobbie Sydney to crawl but fired his goal bound shot overboard in the 69th minutes. 

With 15 minutes to end proceedings, Ghana continued to enjoy their one goal lead as South Africa kept probing for parity.

Kamaldeeen Sulemana sent a hit for goal but missed by inches in the 79th minutes.

After three minutes of added time, Ghana had victory with the lone goal.
