It is almost no news to hear that referees have been beaten by fans of some teams in the country. Fans channel their anger and frustration of the game lost unto the officiating team.
We thought with Anas’ investigation into football dubbed Number 12, would resolve some of these stories. The investigation into the football saw that some referees took bribe to officiate matches to the Favorit of the bribing team.
On the eve of 28th March 2021, the referee and his assistants were beaten mercilessly by supporters of Wamanafo Mighty Royals. They were beaten to pulp with blood oozing from his nose and mouth.
They were accused of officiating the match in favor of the visiting team Tano Bofoakwa. This incident occurred at Wamanafo. The Referees were rescued by the police in the area into safety.
Below are pictures of the referees:
This behavior needs to be eschewed from Ghana’s Football. It is an archaic act and must not be condoned.
