The Porcupine warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been on a haunt for a new coach since they parted ways with coach Maxwell Konadu. Coach Johnson Smith was chosen as an interim coach but his qualifications became a hindrance to him so another person was chosen. Rumours had it Kotoko were in contact with a foreign coach and he was a Portuguese coach. He used to work with the Black Stars in the early 2000s.
After days of negotiation, Kotoko has finally gotten their man. His name is Coach Mariano Barreto. He is a Portuguese coach and a former coach of the Black Stars. He joins the Porcupine warriors for the rest of the season and two additional years. With his experience with the Black Stars, he seem to know Ghana and the league quite well. Kotoko believes that they need a new chapter but with someone who as an experience of the local football and see him with the potential for this job. He resumes work immediately as the league resumes soon.
