AshantiGold Sporting Club President Dr. Kwaku Frimpong says there is a ploy to ruin his reputation after the Ghana Football Association accused him of match-fixing.
The president was charged along with his son Frimpong, who also serves as the club's executive director for his participation in the game.
AshantiGold SC 70's victory over Inter Allies in a Ghana Premier League match in which a player scored two own goals raises suspicions of match-fixing, leading to a wide range of offenses charged to 18 players and six referees in both clubs.
Dr. Kwaku Frimpong says that Inter-Allied defender Hashmin Musah, who scored both goals, should be the focus of the investigation, as he proved his innocence.
"We did nothing wrong because we always beat people at 40, 50 or 54," Ashanti Gold president Kwaku Frimpong told BBC Sport Africa.
"We beat them five and their defender [Musah] scored two goals himself. I think they have to blame the guy who scored himself because he is unprecedented.
" So why do we have to blame Ashanti Gold? This is jealousy and they just want to destroy my name. I have not spoken to any president or club. We have done nothing. "
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will resolve the cases after requesting statements from the defense, all of which will be received by Monday 27 September.
The Ghana FA President has pledged to take care of any official or player involved in the
match-fixing scandal Our football has been attacked by faceless cowards, "GFA chief Okraku said last month. "It is my responsibility and that of the Executive Board to uphold the passion of the nation.
" Anyone who has played a role [in gambling-related match-fixing] will stand up to this.
