Chelsea striker Callum Hudson-Odoi will impress his head coach as the Blues train in Bucharest today.Thomas Tuchel expects Callum Hudson-Odoi to leave during training at Chelsea today and has insisted that the Blues wingers face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Tuchel's resignation from Hudson-Odoi on Saturday, just 30 minutes after being announced as a half-time substitute against Southampton, sparked debate about her husband's management and even the future of the player under his supervision.
Hudson-Odoi was an immediate beneficiary of Tuchel's appointment last January, starting four Premier League games under the German game compared to three that Frank Lampard watched in the first four months of the campaign. However,on Saturday,Tuchel said he was retiring from St. Petersburg. Mary's because she lacked the sense of having the application and attitude needed to influence the game as it was directed.
When Tuchel brought up the incident on Sunday evening,he downplayed the significance of the incident and went on to outline what he expected of the 20-year-old ahead of the final draw for Tuesday's first game in Bucharest on Tuesday.
Maybe I was rude to him because he was by my side on the pitch and I was close to him, but I don't think he was really involved in the game,Tuchel told Chelsea's official website.I didn't think he was really hot,so I made a firm decision about him.But that decision is now and for the day only. For me,it's not a big deal at all and it only happens when people want to talk about it.
Callum has been fantastic for me so far and he has to show me that every game and every day of training.I want him to show me that he is a reliable person for the team when he comes off the bench like he is now.
He started a lot of games for me and in this case made a firm decision. Now he has to swallow it and go to training, ready to work before Atletico,a game he has every chance to start.
Hudson-Odoi was used in his orthodox position as a winger at Tuchel, but also as a right winger.
Given that Diego Simeone's Atletico likes to play on a natural left or left wing -either 3-4-1-2 or 4-4-2 - Hudson-Odoi will take on Reese James for a spot on the Blues' right flank .
