FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ethiopia to host Ghana in Johannesburg

After the Confederation of African Football (CAF) placed a ban on the home ground of the Ethiopian national team, the Bahir Dar International Stadium from hosting any international games due to its current state, the Ethiopian Football Federation has resolved to host the Black Stars of Ghana in South Africa.

The decision to play against Ghana at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg came after the Ethiopian Football Federation and South Africa Football Association reached an agreement on Thursday October 21.

Orlando Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium, in Soweto, a suburb of Johannesburg, in Gauteng province in South Africa.

The 37,139 seater capacity stadium was opened on 1959 and renovated in 2008 and it is the home venue for Orlando Pirates Football Club.

Ethiopia is expected to host the Black Stars of Ghana on November 11 before Ghana takes on South Africa at home on 14 November to complete the first phase of the qualification.

Ghana is currently 2nd on the table, with 9 points, just a point behind leaders South Africa after 4 matches
