The rate at which insecurity is rising in most match centres in Ghana and Africa as whole is becoming alarming to the extent that most people are loosing interest in going to match centres since their lives could be shortened anytime there is any misunderstanding between players, teams supporters or both.
The Ghana Footbal Association (GFA) has indefinitely banned the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park at Anyinase with immediate effect after some obnoxious activities were recorded when a match was going on at the park. This decision to ban the park was taken following assaults on players and officials at Aiyinase resulting in injuries and damage to property through unsporting behaviour by the home supporters in the MTN FA Cup Round of 32 tie between Karela United FC and Medeama SC on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
It is surfacing that Medeama SC had written a letter to Ghana Football Association 5 days to the game. In a letter that saw dated 15th June 2021 Medeame SC alerted the FA on some pieces of information they are getting from the home team that might hinder security on the match day.
According to the the letter written to Ghana Football Association by Medeame SC, Medeame said it is alleged that some supporters of the home team indicates that they will use unlawful means to disrupt the match therefore the FA should do something to guarantee their safety.
"It is alleged that some supporters in granting interviews with some radio stations in Sekondi Takoradi and Esiama indicated that they will use unlawful means to intimidate Medeama SC (both the playing body and the management) in arder to ensure a smooth progression into the next stage of the competition".
"We are therefore informing Your office to take steps as early as practicable to guarantee our safety before, during and after the match". Medeame SC wrote.
This letter has made some people to be angry with Medeame SC for not writing to the police service. But there must be some kind of chain of command. They must write to the immediate organisers for the organisers to write to any security service provide them security.
There are few information that Karela United Supporters did this as retaliation to a similar experinece ,when they travelled to play Medeama Sc in Tarkwa and the question is, should they have to do at all?
In course of the chao, The Ghana Football Association had rallied Millitary Men on the Anyinase grounds but fans found it difficult to budge peaceful.
One of the terrible incidences is by how Medeama Sc midfielder Eric Kwakwa was stoned by the Karela United supporters during the FA Cup match. His forehead got bloody through a stone that was thrown from an unknown supporter.
SHOULD WE CONTINUE TO BE VIOLENT IN OUR STADIA TO THE EXTENTS OF INJURING SOME?
