Confirmed: Coach Milovan Rajevac To Announce Black Stars Squad For AFCON On Tuesday Afternoon

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac will announce his provisional squad for the impending Nations Cup on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Conference Room of the Football Association.

“The Conference which is scheduled for 2pm will be addressed by Coach of the Black Stars Milovan Rajevac as he names his provisional squad ahead of Ghana’s participation in the 33rd edition of the TotalEnegies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.” The Ghana Football Association stated in a press release. 

Milovan Rajevac was expected to name a provisional squad last  following a meeting between the Black Stars Management Committee and the Technical members. The meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 14, 2021, took place between the two divisions but the provisional squad was not announced. Black Stars Management Committee Chairman George Amoako had confirmed that the list will be out by Thursday. 

“The coach is expected to name a provisional squad tomorrow. Yes, Milo has indeed requested additional backroom staff, the management committee sat on it yesterday and discussed it, I can't reveal what exactly he wants but we will update Ghanaians when the agreement is reached." George Amoako told Akoma FM.

Despite Invites being sent to clubs for players to be released,  the kind of players to be assembled for the prestigious tournament was not known.

Black Stars of Ghana are scheduled for camping on December 22, 201. Reports have emerged about the list of players invited to represent Ghana in the continental showpiece.

Five local players have been reported to have been invited by Milovan Rajevac. Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Philemon Baffour of Dreams FC, goalkeeper Richard Attah of Accra Hearts of Oak and Ismail Abdul Ganiu are some of the players pencilled to make the squad. In-form Real Tamale United striker David Abagna is tipped for an invite.

Meanwhile, experienced players such as Dede Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey are expected to be part of the provisional and the final squad for Nations Cup.
