Kumasi Asante Kotoko has started its 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season campaign on a very high note. After winning its first two GPL games; one at home and the other away, the Porcupine Warriors were paired to play against newly promoted side, Bibiani Gold Stars FC at the Duns Park in Bibiani. This was the first game in Matchday 3.
The Porcupine Warriors made no mistake in grabbing the 3 needed away points at Bibiani. Prior to yesterday's game against Asante Kotoko SC, Duns Park was a fortress for Bibiani Gold Stars FC. While in the Division One League, Bibiani Gold Stars had play about 15 games at the Duns Park and had tasted no defeat. The club had won 12 of those games and played 3 draws in its 2020/2021 season campaign in the Division One League.
The arrival of Asante Kotoko has made all this history now. A 55th minute goal by Isaac Oppong was all that was needed for Asante Kotoko to win in the encounter.
The victory over Bibiani Gold Stars FC helped Asante Kotoko to extend the lead at the top of the table. The club now has 9 points after winning three (3) straight GPL games this season.
