Huge Boost For Hearts of Oak as Sulley Muntari Makes a U-Turn

Accra Hearts of Oak have handed a huge boost ahead of their week 26 Ghana Premier League clash against city rivals, Accra Lions.

The Phobians have not been at their best this season having the Ghana Premier League, the FA Cup and an automatic treble last season. Hearts of Oak’s participation at the continental competition was not impressive either - shipping in 10 goals in two playoff games in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. The Phobians were eliminated by Morocco giants, Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League playoffs over two legs in Accra and Casablanca.

They suffered an elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup when they lost to Algeria club, Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura over two legs in Accra and Bechar. The 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season has not been the best for them as they currently sit out of the top four places.

The Phobians are 6th on the 2021/22 league table with 37 points from 25 matches and will next face Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday in week 26. The good news for coach Samuel Boadu is that, former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari has returned to training and could be available for selection. Muntari has missed some games for the Phobians after attending to some important assignments but is now available for selection in Saturday’s game.
