Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko has expressed their unhappiness about the decision to postpone their league game with AshantiGold SC on Thursday.
The Porcupines were due to play their regional rivals AshantiGold SC in a Ghana Premier League, GPL Matchday 29 fixture at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi this afternoon.
However, the Ghana Football Association, GFA late on Wednesday, announced the postponement of the game for security reasons upon advice from the Ghana Police Service.
AshantiGold SC has been demoted to the Second Division League from next season by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA for match fixing and manipulation in their league game with Inter Allies FC last season.
The management and supporters of the Miners have not been happy with this decision and, it has been rumoured that they were planning to stage a demonstration against the decision and the GFA before, during and after their game with Kotoko today which could turn to violence, prompting this decision to postpone the game indefinitely.
And this, has not gone down well with the Garden City club who expressed their displeasure about the incident in a letter they wrote to the GFA on Thursday morning.
"As a club, we take serious exception to the postponement of the match at this crucial stage of the league since issues of sporting integrity may be compromised", Asante Kotoko wrote in their release.
They further requested the GFA to as a matter of fact, postpone all league matches until their game with AshantiGold SC is played.
Asante Kotoko is also demanding the GFA to reimburse the club for the cost incurred as the club traveled from Kumasi to Obuasi on Wednesday and spent a night there in preparation for the game on Thursday.
Asante Kotoko leads the standing by eight points with six matches to play as they seek to win the diadem at the end of the campaign.
