Cristiano Ronaldo returns a positive Covid 19 test

Portugal and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus , the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has reported.

According to reports , the 35-year-old is not showing any symptoms and has been sent home from international duty to self-isolate as the Covid 19 protocols demand.

Portugal are billed to face Sweden in a Nations League Group C game on Wednesday.

The Juventus forward played his last two games for his country Portugal : first a friendly against Spain and then France in the Nations League group match.

He was at his best in both matches even though the two sides in both matches settled for draws.

The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed the news via an official statement on Tuesday , which reads: "Cristiano Ronaldo was released from training with the national team after a positive test for Covid-19, so he will not face Sweden. Following the positive test , the remaining players underwent new tests on Tuesday morning , and all produced a negative result and are available to Fernando Santos for training this afternoon."
