Can Kumasi Asante Kotoko overturns CAF verdict after heading to CAS?
Kumase Asante Kotoko has endured a very difficult week. They travelled to Sudan for their return encounter game against Al Hillal in the CAF champions league qualification stages. Things however turned sour for the Ghanaian based club.
Seven of their players tested positive to covid 19 and so couldn't field the required number of players for the game. CAF declares Al Hillal losers and Kotoko had to drop into the second tier confederations cup. Kotoko feels the results of their players was altered and made an official protest to CAF but it ended futile.
The club has since decided to take the case to CAS( Court of Arbitration of Sports). They feel unfairly treated by CAF. Kotoko feels the team to make it into the next competition should be on the grounds of football not on medical grounds.
The leaders of CAF should do things fairly and squarely. Kotoko can bring some paradigm shift in the way CAF handle issues regarding covid.
