Rabi, Medeama's Coach, Claimed That His Team Could Have Scored More Goals Against King Faisal.

On Wednesday afternoon, King Faisal suffered a 3-2 defeat to Medeama Sporting Club in Week 15 of the betPawa Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Jimmy Cobblah and his team lost their second league game in a row, but Umar Abdul Rabi and his Medeama squad responded to their loss to Accra Hearts of Oak at Ackoon Park in week 14.

Umar Abdul Rabi has been given the head coach's portfolio on two occasions; his first charge at the club was in 2022, when he took over from Ignatius Osei-Fosu.

He took over as coach of the Mauves and Yellows at the beginning of the previous campaign. In Week 4, he led the team to second place in the league standings with 56 points, passing Bechem United, who had held that spot for almost the entire season.

Rabi's impressive work impressed club President Moses Armah "Parker," who officially appointed him as their permanent coach with an official announcement. However, with just a few days until the start of the 2022–2023 season, David Duncan was given the authority to manage the team.

Duncan, a former assistant coach for Ghana under C.K. Akonnor, was hired in September 2022 for one year. However, after overseeing nine games with a win percentage of just 33.33% while losing four games and drawing two in the league, Duncan parted ways on amicable terms, allowing Rabi to manage Medeama for the second time.

In the 2022–2023 season, Umar Abdul Rabi and the Medeama team played their first league match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. They easily defeated Jimmy Cobblah to move up to ninth place in the league standings with 20 points.

Abdul Latif gave the home side the lead in the 14th minute, Nurudeen Abdulai tied the score at 10 minutes, and Vincent Atinga stepped up to score a penalty won by Nana Bayin. After halftime, Kwasi Donsu scored the third goal for the away team in the 48th minute, but experienced Joseph Kodin quickly tied the game.

When asked about the key to getting three away goals after going without a goal in their previous home game, Rabi told the editors of www.atspo.com that his team could have scored more goals against King Faisal. He made this point in an interview with them following their victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He told Raphael of www.atspo.com, "That is football for you; sometimes when you are expected to score, you fail to score, and when you are not expected to get the goals, you then bang in goals, like today, when you think the score would have been 1-0, 2-1, or 1-1, but at the end, we were able to score three goals, and we could have even scored more against King Faisal."
