Ghana Qualifies For CHAN Since 2014

Following a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Nigeria on Saturday in Abuja, Ghana's Black Galaxies have secured a spot in the African Nations Championship (CHAN). Super Eagles B scored twice in the final seconds of regulation time to tie the game 2-2 overall. The first goal came in the 79th minute.

However, it was unsatisfactory because penalties allowed Ghana to secure their spot in Algeria. While Nigeria missed one, Annor Walker's team converted all five of their penalties. Goals from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Suraj Seidu helped Ghana win the opening leg 2-0.

They have now earned a spot in the CHAN tournament for the first time since they placed second there in 2014. Algeria will host the main tournament from January 8 until February 5, 2023.

Following the Black Stars' 2022 World Cup play-off triumph over the Super Eagles in March, Ghana has now qualified for a major event twice this year at the expense of Nigeria.
