Our Struggles Are Over And We Will Play in Top Four - Atta Kusi

Kumasi King Faisal’s performance last season was nothing to discuss after shuttling the relegation zone several weeks before escaping at the eleventh hour.

They held Liberty Professionals to 1-1 draw at the Sogakope Park on the final match day to retain their top flight status and eventually send the Scientific Soccer Lads to the Division One League. The narrative has however changed with King Faisal winning their two opening games of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season. They opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over last season’s third placed club, West Africa Football Academy at the Baba Yara Stadium. A better performance was exhibited in week two when they beat two time Ghana Premier League champions, Aduana Stars 3-1 at the Agyemang Badu Park.

With a good start and a hundred percent result to the season, Atta Kusi is confident they will be able to fight for a top four place at the end of the season. “If you look at how we suffered [battled relegation] last season, and with the coach blending experience with youth this season, I believe we will be able to play top four this season. “Because if you look at our mature players and the young players, how they play even against WAFA, how we dominated them, then a top four place is possible.” Atta Kusi told Africa-foot.com.

Attah Kusi, 29 , has previously played for relegated Liberty Professionals before joining Asante Kotoko on a free transfer. He had a brief spell with AshantiGold before signing for King Faisal. King Faisal earned 41 points which helped them stay in the top flight ahead of Ebusua Dwarfs, Liberty Professionals and Inter Allies. They will host AshantiGold at the Baba Yara Stadium in week three. A win will see King Faisal claim three victories in their first three games of the 2020/21 league season.
