Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has quashed claims by a section of the populace that the nation is under a spell after André Ayew’s penalty miss against Uruguay.
Gyan’s headlining penalty miss at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa against the same side, shattered Ghana and Africa’s first ever semi final dream.
With Andre missing a 21st minute spot kick and eventually seeing Ghana exit the tournament with two losses and a win in group H, a section of the citizen has concluded that the nation is cursed.

Gyan, who is Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup, believes such happenings are normal in football.
"I don't think it's a curse. These are things that happen in football and as a footballer, you have to deal with it for the rest of your life."
"I have been there before and I know what Andre (Ayew) is going through right now. He might pretend to be strong but deep inside, he will feel the pain."
"The most important thing is that Uruguay also ended up suffering too. So it's all good." Asamoah Gyan told SuperSport.
