It's sad as a youth to be a citizen of a nation that does not promote the handiwork of their own citizens. Ghana is one country where getting a white collar job as a young graduate hugely depends on 'who knows you' but not the certificate you hold.
The saddest part is when you go to the extra mile to Starr up something on your own out of your own creativity. Getting the little mileage or push to enable you move up there becomes a tall order.
What happened yesterday at the studios of Kumasi based Wontumi television has shown that Ghanaian youth has been blessed with the quantum of creativity that could enable us compete with those from the developed country with just a little push.
Looking at the picture above, you may be wondering whether Ghana has won the FIFA world cup, or the Qatar 2022 world cup tour has just begun with Ghana privileged to be the first country to have a feel of it?
But amazingly, that is not the case, neither is the trophy you see there is the original FIFA world cup trophy. It is a handiwork of a very talented young Ghanaian youth by the name Joel Agyekum. What surprises me is that the trophy you see is not made of Gold or any other metal, but from a common wood.
According to him, he is into arts and he has got the privilege to meet some prominent personalities in the country to present to them their drawings. He confirmed in the past years he had met late Kofi Annan, late president Rawlings, the Asantehene, President Akufo Addo (at the time he was not the president), Bawumia and prince Charles of Great Britain.
But despite his opportunity to meet all these big personalities, none of them went the extra mile to give him the needed help to make him move up there. You now understand why I said it is sad to be a youth of a country like Ghana.
Also in the studios the same moment was kumawood star Yaw Dabo, who advised him not to waste his time to sought for any form of assistance from these politicians.
"These politicians are only interested in things that will benefit themselves but not to the young Ghanaian youth. Stop making the paintings of these politicians and concentrate on painting the celebrities inbtge country. At least aside them giving you something small, they will also project you by posting their paintings on their social media platforms. And it will give you the mileage you deserve", he advised.
Compare these two trophies and let's see if you can differentiate between them. Among the two which one is the original FIFA world cup trophy and which one is the Ghana made wooden FIFA world cup trophy? Give your opinion at the comments section below.
Let's share this article to help give this young talented Ghanaian youth the mileage he deserves to help motivate him.
