Boxing: Richard Commey begins quest to reclaim lost world title against Jackson Martinez tonight

Former IBF lightweight champion, Richard Commey begins his quest to wrestle back his lost strap tonight with a bout against Jackson Martinez.

The Ghanaian pugilist is eager to return to the world frame after losing his title to Mexico's Teofimo Lopez in 2019.

Tonight's fight with the Dominican is live on ESPN, and, Commey said it's an opportunity for him to redeem lost time after that setback to Lopez nearly two years ago.

''It"s redemption time for Commey, because I still got a lot in there and I want to be a two-time world champion'', he told Ring ahead of this bout.

Commey said he had reflected deeply on the loss to Lopez, and, has taken positive lessons from that.

"I went back home after the defeat to Lopez, and, I trained well to make a huge comeback, and, this is the opportunity for me to showcase my new form", he added.

The Ghanaian believes he has what it takes to produce a win in tonight's duel, and, wants to put out a show that would be taken notice of by those in his weight division.

The objective he added, is to get an opportunity to challenge for a world title again and, this is what he will be going for hoping to step up a gear in the lightweight division of this very unpredictable sport.
