Eventful Encounter
The world of football was sent aback in the just ended energetic football encounter between the three lions of England and their German counterparts.
First Half
The first half ended in a stalemate with England playing 53% as against Germany’s 47% of total football. It was an end to end encounter that saw Rahim Sterling (England) being denied a goal by the German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, when he fired a shot from the edge of the box after receiving an accurate pass. Jordan Pickford, England’s goalie, also stopped Timo Werner (Germany) from converting a goal scoring opportunity.
Second Half
In the early minutes of the second half, Kai Havertz (Germany) blew off a rebound just outside the penalty box. His shot was stopped by the England Goalkeeper.
First Goal
In the 75th minute, Luke Shaw produced an amazing pass to Rahim Sterling (England) in the penalty area who converts it with a superb low shot to take the English team ahead.
Germany’s Reaction
Kai Havertz plays a great delivery pass to Thomas Muller (Germany); who shoots without wasting time in the 82nd minute - but, it was a fraction wide off the left post.
Second Goal
The second goal was created by Jack Grealish (England) who sends a long raking pass onto the head of Harry Kane (England) who makes no mistakes at all sending it into the right side of goal.
Quarter Finals
The game ended England 2-0 Germany; which sets up the English team against the winner of the Sweden-Ukraine game in the quarter finals.
This takes to seven the number of teams that have qualified to play in the quarterfinals.
