I’m Not Under Pressure to Coach Medeama - Abdul Rabi

Newly installed head coach of Medeama SC, Umar Abdul Rabi says he is not under pressure at the helm of the two time Ghana FA Champions.

The young coach was appointed on permanent basis to replace the sacked Ignatius Osei Fosu whose technical team he joined as an assistant. Rabi joined the Mauve and Yellow after a decade of experience at the famed Ghana soccer academy, Right to Dream. Medeama had gone three games without a win under Ignatius Osei Fosu - only picking two points in two games; first in a 1-1 draw against Gold Stars at home and a goalless draw at Eleven Wonders after a 4-0 humiliation at Bechem United in the opener.

Abdul Rabi however spearheaded Medeama to a 2-0 win against Karela in week four at home which was their first victory in four matches and he talks about not being under pressure in his new role. “I’m not under pressure because when I came I worked with him [Ignatius Osei Fosu] for one week. “So I know the players and I have seen them. “So when I took over it was a bit easier for me. “I did what I wanted to do with them, the way I want to play. “I did that with them and they [players] exhibited it very well on the pitch [against Karela].” Abdul Rabi said after their over Karela.

Rabi will lead his side to yet another daunting task away to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium in the week five fixture.
