Former Kotoko goalie Razak Abalora made an impressive UEFA Champions League debut for his club. He was in the post when his side met the champions from Bosnia in the preliminary qualifying rounds. He lasted for the entire duration of the game and more importantly kept a clean sheet. The Yellow and Blacks held the Bosnian champions HSK Zrinjski Mostar to a 0-0 draw at the Stade Pod Bijelim Brijegom in the playoffs. They are going into the second leg at home on Tuesday with a clean slate. It's a dicey situation for them though. The away goal rule does not hold anymore in UEFA competitions.
The Ghanaian goalie joined the Moldovan champions from Asante Kotoko in the middle of the just-ended season and played a crucial role for the club in winning the league title. Let's hope his club makes it to the group stage of Europe's premier club competition.
