Clubs that had much entry into the top six are Great Olympics, Asante Kotoko, Medeama, Aduana Stars, AshantiGold, Karela United with Accra Hearts of Oak not having much representation in the lineup. The pundits looked right from with their judgement from the onset because if you looked at the depth of the squads of these clubs, indeed they looked solid more than Hearts of Oak especially Great Olympics, Medeama and Asante Kotoko.
The fact of the matter is, Hearts of Oak were also struggling to find a new coach to steer the affairs of the club’s technical affairs. It was Edward Nii Odoom who was in interim charge before the club brought in Serbian trainer, Costa Papic. Unfortunately for the Phobians, he left halfway through the season with Nii Noi taking charge and interestingly winning a number of games in the process.
There was soon going to be good news for the Phobians and the good news the arrival of former Medeama FC coach, Samuel Boadu. The young tactician almost immediately changed the fortunes of the playing body. Hearts of Oak became so transformed under Samuel Boadu that some players who were deemed surplus to requirement now began showing signs of sharpness. Samuel Boadu’s transformation of the club led to the club going the whole season without a defeat in 13 games. The only club that halted their search for their 14th league victory was West Africa Football Academy.
The Academy Boys stopped the Phobians by 1-0 on the last day of the 2020/21 league games at the Sogakope Park. The Phobians claimed 61 points with Kotoko on 57 in second.
