Luka Modric is a Croatian professional footballer who plays for the Spanish Laliga football club Real Madrid. He plays as a central midfielder and captains Croatia national team. He was born in September, 1985 at Zadar in Croatia. Luka Modric became a refugee during a war that took place in his country Croatia when he was a little child. This war was a Croatian war of Independence and it spread widely in the whole country of Croatia in the year 1991.

Luka Modric's entire family were forced to escape the war, which reveals plainly that Luka Modric became a refugee. For seven good years, Modric's family lived in the Hotel Kolovare. He grew up as a skillful footballer and was first seen in 2003 playing for Dinamo Zagreb. He later on joined the England premier league club Tottenham Hotspur and was spotted by the Spanish Laliga club called Real Madrid, after four years well spent in England.

In Spain, Modric gave in his all and has successfully achieved a lot of trophies along with the most top European league tournament in the world of football. Not only one, not two but five of the UEFA champions league titles in his football career. It is really difficult for a refugee to make such an achievements in his life, but Luka Modric who became a refugee for seven years has set a challenging record in the world.
