The El Classico is here again! El Classico is one of the biggest football match in history and it's between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. We have seen lots of great players play in this fixture. Players like Rivaldo, Ronaldo de Lima, Ronaldinho, Kaká, Carlos Puyol, Xavi Hernández, Iniesta, Figo, Beckham, Alfredo Di Stéfano, Puskás, Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and many more have featured in this match. It's worthy to note that the current managers of both clubs, Ronald Koeman and Zinedine Zidane have both had their share of the El Classico while playing for both clubs respectively. The rivalry and intensity of the match is what catches most attention but the goals is very important like any other game.
Let's look at the top scorers of the El Classico. Lionel Andrés Messi is the top scorer with 26 goals. He scored most of these after Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Madrid in 2009. However, Messi hasn't scored any Classico goal since Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus in 2018.
Alfredo Di Stéfano and Cristiano Ronaldo are joint second with 18 goals each. Alfredo Di Stéfano was the all time leading scorer until Messi caught up with him and overtook him and Ronaldo also closed up before leaving for Juventus.
Raúl González Blanco is next. The ex Real Madrid captain scored 15 Classico goals during his time after making his debut in his teenage days for the Galácticos.
César (FC Barcelona), Gento, and Puskás both of Real Madrid have got 14 goals to their credit.
Santillana del Mar of Real Madrid has scored 12 goals.
Luis Suarez scored 11 goals when his was at Barcelona. He is now with Atletico Madrid.
H. Sánchez, Juanito and Samitier (FC Barcelona) have all scored 10 goals.
