Kumasi Asante Kotoko are currently first on the Ghana Premier League league log. They have been heavily criticized by their fans and pundits in previous months after failing to score more goals in every game that they feature. The appointment of their head coach Mariano Barreto has completely changed things and they look challenging once again.
They are unbeaten in their last five matches. Out of the five matches they have played, they have scored 8 goals, conceding two and keeping three clean sheet.Their last match was against second position club Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports stadium. The game ended 0-0, but it was in favour of the porcupine royals as they maintain their position as the leaders on the table with 35 points.
Mariano Barreto has stated that, their focus was to win the game and not to draw, these were his words “we feel we have lost two points, Great Olympics played well and we didn’t allow them to play.We knew the game will be very complicated because they were eager for a win, we should that we are not afraid of any team”.
He commended his players on the level of aggression they displayed in the game and also added they played some impressive football which was highly regarded by their fans. He has urged his players to continue to play for the badge and not to be carried away by their recent performance.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will take on Medeama SC in as their next fixture in the Ghana Premier League at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.
