“Ghana Coach Sets Sight on Winning CAF Champions League”

Head Coach of Hasaacas Ladies club, Yussif Basgi has fired warning against opponent Ampem Darkoa Ladies enroute to grand finale of the Ghana Women’s Premier League on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Basigi, who last season guided Hasmal Ladies to the league’s triumph believes his side would return the trophy back to the Western Region capital, Takoradi, regardless of Ampem DarkoaLadies scoreline on Saturday.

‘’If you are leading, until the final whistle don’t think you are ok. We are going to equalize and beat you.

Playing against them is always a tough game irrespective of the score line that we have always been getting. The approach is to see how they are going to play, then we neutralize it, take our tactical ploy against them and then at the end of the day still go unbeaten and take our trophy back to Takoradi’’.

Hasmal Ladies transferred 7 players to Europe after treble season and final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns Women’s team in the CAF Champions League and believes the African experience helped fill void left by player’s exodus.

“Haven missed 7 of my key players, out of the team. We still managed to use the back-up team to build another solid team. and this time around the record shows.

These were players who were not getting regular playing time. When we qualified to play the champions league, I made a recommendation that these players should be part of the team that would embark to the tournament, management did all that they could to register all the 30 players.

The modules that we are using this time around is what really worked for us. We have our laid down principles. The wining mentality is the principle.

If you are a player and you are able to go by this principle, then you can fit into the team”.

Basigi believes despite majority of new players in the first team, his side will clinch the season’s trophy.

“I’m very proud that they are living up to the expectations. We are going in to win’’ he stressed.

Hasaacas Ladies drew 2 matches and won remaining games to accrue 46 points to win Southern Zone of the Ghana Women’s Premier.
