“Ghana Can Pull a Surprise at the 2023 AFCON” - Black Stars Winger

Black Stars winger, Osman Bukari has set sight on the next Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire after the 2022 FIFA World Cup elimination.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after just managing a win and two defeats.

The Black Stars lost their opening game by 3-2 against former European Champions, Portugal before coming good against South Korea with a 3-2 win.

The Black Stars however lost to old foes, Uruguay by 2-0 in the third and final group H game much to shock of their entire nation.

The results were achieved under the tutelage of former coach, Otto Addo who has since left the club.

Osman Bukari however remains confident that the 2023 AFCON which will be hosted in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024 will be a success.

"Oh Yes, anything can happen. We have to put it at the back of our minds we are going to win AFCON 2024,” he replied when asked about the tournament to he hosted in Ivory Coast.

“We have a very young team so anything can happen though I’m not 100% sure of Ghana winning it but its football and anything can happen,” he added on BYT Sports TV.

Ghana lead Group D of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after two matches. The Black Stars beat Madagascar in Cape Coast before drawing against the Central African Republic.
