Hearts of Oak’s superstar, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh produced an impressive performances for the Black Meteors as they team defeated Mozambique in the first leg of the African Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The Hearts of Oak attacker converted 2 penalties to give the Black Meteors the edge over their opponents heading into the second leg which will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium next week.
In all, the game was a keenly contested one with both teams struggling to convert chances in the first half of the game. However, 2 penalties scored by Barnieh and a last minute goal by the Mozambique side leaves the two teams with chances of qualifying to the next round.
Afriyie Barnieh has been tipped to be one of the local players who could be included in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup next month. The player has been influential for all the levels of the national team and it is expected that he is rewarded a chance with the Black Stars.
