Midfielder Richmond Lamptey’s parents have made passionate appeal to Ghanaians to help save their child’s football career. Speaking on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the parents of Richmond Lamptey asserted that their son has categorically told them that he has no hand in the match-fixing scandal when his side Inter Allies played AshantiGold.
“My name is Kofi Nkansah, I am Richmond Lamptey’s father. I am here with his mother. My son joined Asante Kotoko from Inter Allies. There has been issues about Inter Allies and AshantiGold game and my son has told us that he knows nothing about it. He has been banned for two years but unfortunately that is the only job he does. I plead to Ghanaians to help me save my child.” The father of Richmond Lamptey remarked.
On his mother’s part, she retorted, “he started playing football from academy as a young boy. He started from Gomoa Fete through to WAFA to Inter Allies. The way the things is being handled I have been crying till now. My only son is going to sit home, oh save me God.”
Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey is part of players that have been banned by the Ghana Football Association for involving a match of convenience played between AshantiGold and Inter Allies last two seasons.
