The miners' of Ghana Football week 29 match against Kotoko was postponed due to security concerns since a majority of the fans at Obuasi were furious with the current management of the club for engaging in match manipulations.
A verdict of alleged match-fixing between Ashanti Gold and relegated Inter Allies was released by the Disciplinary Committee of the FA, and some popular football administrators have spoken against the timing of the release of the match-fixing verdict.
A football administrator, highly recognized in the Bono and Ahafo Region stated, “This verdict, whether good or bad, has come at a very bad time because now we have just about five matches to play. You ban Ashgold, now Ashgold is no longer a Premier League club; they have been demoted so what happens to the five remaining matches because they cannot parade themselves as a Premier League club.”
Kofi Manu Blue Boy made this statement to Sometymer of Oyerepa Sports, again former Neoplan Stars administrator also aired his view on the verdict which he also talked against the verdict.
A fixture was postponed after the verdict indicating what the administrators have disclosed, the Police department at Obuasi requested the postponement of the match involving Ashanti Gold SC and league leaders Asante Kotoko.
The football governing body of Ghana has announced a new date for the postponed fixture, the Ghana Football Association have set June 2nd for the outstanding League game between Ashanti Gold and Kotoko.
Moreover, the Ghana FA reserves the right to move Ashanti Gold’s home matches to a selected alternative match venue, this will be implemented if the security risk and advice from the Security Services remain unchanged by the next home match.
