Northampton vs Oxford United

Oxford United have had a rollercoaster campaign in this term of League One. They still have a chance to make it to the play-offs thanks to an improved record after the recent wins over Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers.

Karl Robinson’s men have been particularly impressive seven days ago when they demolished direct rivals Doncaster 3-0 on the home patch. The team’s top scorers Matt Taylor and Olamide Shodipo were both on target on the occasion. They will be the ones to look after here against the relegation-threatened Northampton for sure.

The Cobblers have the worst attacking record in the entire division but yet again they bagged six goals in back-to-back home wins over Plymouth and Portsmouth recently.

Either way, it is hard to ignore the 2.05 odds offered for Oxford United’s victory based on everything we’ve seen so far in the season and on their superb display in the last week’s thumping of Doncaster.

Oxford United to win @ 2.05

Barrow vs Grimsby Town

Barrow will try to build on their winning streak in the league. Since they are facing a team that is at the ultimate bottom of the table, their chances might increase radically. However, the host has never won against the guest in their h2h meetings since 2010.

In the meantime, the host enjoys the ground advantage in the middle. Grimsby had just one win in their last 15 clashes in the campaign. The away team will come in with a poor form on the road too, making it easier for the host to clamp their maiden win against the former.

The draw no bet over Barrow will probably be the best bet regarding their h2h history with the visitor in recent times. There is a good chance that the host might get an early lead with their ground advantage in the fixture. Hence, the tip for the host to win will also come in handy for the punters.

Barrow to win @ 1.97 odd.

Carlisle vs Leyton Orient

Chris Beech’s men were winless in 11 of their last 12 overall matches, and they have not kept a single clean sheet in their past 11 fixtures. They have also conceded three or more goals in four of their former eight games.

On the other hand, their opposite number have won just thrice on the road since October of 2020, and they had conceded two or more goals in nine of their preceding thirteen road trips.

Going on, majority of h2h meetings over the years have also had goals in huge numbers.

Considering these stats, expect a goal-fest this Tuesday between these two defensively weak squads.

Both Teams to Score @ 1.80

Southend United vs Walsall

With both teams taking a dip in form in the campaign as of now, there is a rare chance to see any action in ninety minutes at Roots Hall.

Southend has scored 21 goals in their 35 appearances until now, hardly averaging at least a goal per game. In the meantime, Walsall has slotted in 37 goals already with a game in hand.

Regarding the current form of both teams in the league, the tip for under 3.5 goals will probably be the best bet for the punters in the goals department. The double chance favoring Walsall will probably serve the purpose as they are close to taking all three points from the clash. Besides, the visitor has won in three of their last five visits in their h2h meetings with the host.

Double chance: Draw or Walsall @ 1.40 odd.

Bristol Rovers vs Swindon

Although there is generally little to separate the two teams who have both played poorly throughout the entire season, we can find enough arguments for backing the home win pick here. First of all, Joey Barton’s troops have improved their performances on the home patch lately, winning three of the last five league matches at the Memorial Stadium.

They will go up against the worst travellers in the entire division. Swindon have a dreadful away record of 2 wins, 3 draws, and 11 defeats in 16 league outings outside The County Ground this term. The hosts should thus have a nice chance to maintain their fine home form and we will back them to clinch a three-pointer at the odds of 2.00. Since the Robins also have the worst defensive record in the league, we will go with Bristol Rovers to score two or more goals here at the odds of 2.10.

Bristol Rovers to win @ 2.00

Blackpool vs Peterborough

Neil Critchley has clearly found the winning formula for his team to keep things tight defensively. The Seasiders now have the second-best defensive record in the entire competition with just 29 goals conceded in 32 matches. They have not shipped two or more goals in any of the last eight league affairs. Blackpool went unbeaten through this entire run.

The Posh have one the best attacking records in the competition, but they did not score two or more goals in four successive games in March. Knowing that Blackpool are unbeaten in 13 straight fixtures on the home patch across competitions, we just have to back the home win or draw double chance at the 1.53 odds here.

We also expect a more careful approach from both managers due to the importance of the game which is why the alternative pick would be Under 2.5 goals FT at the 1.75 odds.

Blackpool win or draw.

Glentoran vs Warrenpoint Town

Glentoran will go into this match following on from a 3-1 Premiership win with the downing of Glenavon in their most recent outing.

For Glentoran, goals were scored by Luke McCullough (25' Own goal), Jay Donnelly (27', 83') and Dale Gorman (39').

Proving their appetite for eventful encounters, goals have been scored 20 times in the last 6 games in which Glentoran have taken to the field, giving an average of 3.33 goals for each clash. Their opponents have managed 6 of these goals.

Coming into this meeting, Glentoran have not been beaten by Warrenpoint Town in away games against them for the last 4 league games. A very good record, indeed.

Warrenpoint Town go into this match after a 2-2 Premiership tied result against Ballymena United.

For Warrenpoint Town, the goals were scored by Adam Carroll (32') and Brandon Doyle (85'). Shay McCartan (56') and Ryan Waide (87') scored for Ballymena United.

Matches with Warrenpoint Town have usually been lively affairs recently with a lot of goalmouth action anticipated. Over their past 6 clashes, a total of 20 goals have been scored for both sides combined (at an average of 3.33 goals per game) with 9 of those belonging to The Point. In any event, we’ll just have to find out if such a trend shall persist in this upcoming match.

Leading up to this clash, Warrenpoint Town:

have left without a victory over Glentoran in their last 9 matches in the league. They are undefeated in their last 2 league matches at home. They are without a home win in the past 3 league matches.

Head to head

Looking at their past head to head results stretching back to 23/04/2019 shows that these encounters have not been good ones for Warrenpoint Town. They’ve not been able to get themselves any victories whatsoever whereas Glentoran have maintained the edge over them, winning in 67% of those match-ups.

A combined total of 16 goals were scored between them throughout the course of those matches, with 4 for The Point and 12 coming from The Glens. This gives an average number of goals per game equal to 2.67. The previous league contest featuring these sides was Premiership match day 31 on 13/03/2021 which ended up with the score at Warrenpoint Town 0-2 Glentoran. The match was refereed by Ross Dunlop.

Prediction: glentoran to win

Dungannon Swifts vs Crusader

Dungannon Swifts will be hoping to return to winning ways here following a 0-1 Premiership losing effort in their last game against Portadown.

Lee Bonis (45') scored for Portadown.

Dungannon Swifts have struggled with their forward play of late. Their sum of goals equals just 3 vs opposing sides during their previous 6 matches. In those meetings, The Swifts have also seen the tally of goals that have gone against them come to 13.

Analysis of their past results shows that Dungannon Swifts:

are winless against Crusaders in their last 4 league games.

are without a win at home for the past 9 league games. Such a poor run

Crusaders

Since being beaten in their last game against Linfield in Premiership action, Crusaders will be hoping to turn things around here.

The only name on the scoresheet from Crusaders was Ross Clarke (16'). Joel Cooper (53') and Shayne Lavery (66') scored for Linfield.

The stats don’t lie, and Crusaders have been scored against in 5 of their last 6 games, conceding 8 goals in total. Defensively, The Hatchetmen can certainly do much better. Such a pattern won’t necessarily follow through into this match.

We’re inclined to think that Crusaders will probably score more than once when they face Dungannon Swifts, who won’t find it easy to find the back of the net.

We’re predicting a decent 0-2 win for Crusaders at the end of this one.

Prediction: Crusader win
