We Are Not Scared of Playing at The Accra Sports Stadium - Attuquaye

Legon Cities FC forward, Jonah Attuquaye says the club has done a lot to weather any form of pressure associated with playing at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The speedster who won the MVP in their 3-2 win against Real Tamale United has been a revelation for Legon Cities FC, which metamorphosed from Wa All Stars after former Ghana FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi relinquished the ownership following the Anas exposé. The Royals were a pale shadow of themselves, battling relegation but managing to escape after putting up a hard and spirited finish in the latter part of last season.

They finished 11th, clocking 42 points and Attuquaye believes they have done enough work under Maxwell Konadu to change the narrative this term. “I won’t say that [no pressure on the team] and I think this is not our first time playing here. “We played last season here but but I think things were not going well last season. “I think we have done lot this season and I think things will go well too for us.” Jonah Attuquaye said.

Legon Cities gave defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak a hellish time in their 2021/22 season opener at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday. They held the Phobians to a goalless draw. They hosted premier league returnees, Real Tamale United in a crunchy second week encounter which ended in a five goal thriller. Legon Cities run away on a 3-2 victory over RTU where the first half ended 1-1 with Joseph Adjei and David Abagna scoring the opener and the equalizer on the 20th and 22nd minutes respectively. Back from recess, Nathaniel Akwah scored his first goal and Legon Cities FC’s second on the 54th minutes with a superb free kick after coming off the bench.

Jonah Attuquaye scored the third goal Cities in the 75 minutes with David Abagna pulling RTU’s second, three minutes later to end the game at 3-2 for the Royals’ first season win which takes them to four points from two games.
