Kotoko should emulate the style and management of the Phobians

For the background of the Portuguese coach it will be proper they give him the maximum support cause he has been with the Black Stars which is the senior national team for Ghana. In all due respect, The kotoko club has given the coach the mandate to surprise the whole team with his own experience and coaching drills. Hearts of Oak did the same thing by demoting Nii Odoom to the junior side (Auroras) but the performance wasn't that bad. From the beginning of the work given to the gaffer, the players will die on the training ground to replicate what he wants to tell them. My justification, will follow when these foreign coach play more than four matches in a row and the fifth match will be used to assessed him this time onwards. The Portuguese trainer was expected to lead the Porcupine Warriors for the first time since arrival but that is not going to happen due to documentations.

Barreto will manage Saturday's premiership fixture from stands. The 64-year-old is ineligible to direct affairs from the bench since his work and residence permits are not ready yet. Barreto named an 18-man squad to face Wonders at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman. The former Black Stars coach took over the Asante Kotoko job last week replacing Maxwell Konadu who was dismissed in December 2020. In his absence, Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazelle took charge of their first match in the second round of the season. Barreto, former Black Stars, was preparing to take charge of his first league match since his appointment.

Following the departure of Maxwell Konadu, a man who famously took the flack for his side's failings at the start of the season, the introduction of Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazalle was meant to signal a more ferocious approach with little sympathy for a player's prior legacy at the club. That was true, with the two coaches opting to drop senior players who weren't performing up to their standards. What was pointless though, was when the players coming in to fill those slots were incapable of executing his game plan.

The players were not without fault, but the system in place was flawed from the start. Kotoko are currently fourth on the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League table, midway through the season.

It is said already that, the trust in our local coaches is not up to any 70 percent in their performance they always showcase. It is obvious that, things will be properly done to boost the morale of the players in a differnt wa. The local coaches are always used as interim on usual bases where most of the players don't get the best out of them. The players knew that they will not spend much of their time with the team but will be shown the exit or demotion to the assistant coaching level making their stay with the players useless. The coming of foreign coaches is good though, but the rapport between them and the local coaches are not the best in terms of players preparation and a lot of sabotage. Having last won the title in 2014, the Porcupine Warriors have set their sights on breaking a seven-year drought. They are the most successful club in the history of the Ghana Premier League, having clinched the trophy on 23 occasions.
