CIES Football Observatory have come up with an algorithm, crunched the numbers and come up with their own version of the most valuable players in the world right now.
They've only only analysed players from top-5 European leagues and we do have to admit the algorithm is not obvious: Phil Foden was named the most expensive player, while Kylian Mbappe fell out of the top-10.
Age was definitely a factor in CIES' decision-making process (Bruno Fernandes is the only player over 23) but it was not the only factor. We think contract length came into the equation too, otherwise Mbappe would be close to the top.
Anyway, that's how the top-10 looks like. Some brilliant young players in there for sure.
1. Phil Foden (Man City)
2. Mason Greenwood (Man United)
3. Marcus Rashford (Man United)
4. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)
5. Bruno Fernandes (Man United)
6. Frenkie De Jong (Barcelona)
7. Pedri Gonzalez (Barcelona)
8. Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
9. Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid)
10. Mason Mount (Chelsea)
