Barcelona Ready to pay €70 million for Premier League team of the season midfielder

Though the Catalans are in a difficult financial situation, but they continue to be linked with some ambitious targets in the transfer market heading into the summer.

One such transfer target that the Catalans are intent on signing is Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva. The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2021/22 campaign with the Citizens and played an important role in their Premier League title triumph.

Well, Bernardo Silva was named the best midfielder in the Premier League Team of the Season for his exploits with the champions. But heading into the summer, he is now being linked with a transfer away from the Etihad Stadium.

Last month it was reported that, manager Pep Guardiola would be willing to sanction a sale if a good offer arrives. However, the English champions are demanding a sum of £80 million (€94 million) for Silva, making things very difficult for the Catalans.

But, Mundo Deportivo is now reporting that the Catalan giants would not be able to meet that valuation this summer. Considering the financial problem at the club, it does not come as a surprise that the €94 million valuation is out of their reach.

However, the report states that the Blaugrana would be willing to go as high as €70 million to lure Silva from Manchester City.

The Catalan giants are hoping to make as much from the sale of Frenkie de Jong, who is a priority target for Manchester United. And Barcelona hope to use the proceeds from his sale to fund a move for Silva.

The Catalans coach Xavi wishes to partner Pedri and Silva in midfield to recreate his own legendary partnership with Andres Iniesta from the past.
