Asamoah Gyan has been trending today for an interview he granted. In an interview with the BBC, former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan mentioned of the possibility of playing in the Qatar World Cup. Nigerians are yet to forgive Ghana after Thomas Partey and his Ghana Black Stars knocked out the Super Eagles in the last round eliminator for the Qatar World Cup.
However, many Ghanaians feel Asamoah Gyan has played his part for Ghana and no more qualified to play for the Black Stars. Media General’s TV3 took to the streets to ask for the views of Ghanaians regarding a possible return for Gyan and majority felt there was no need for Gyan to be picked because there are better players that him currently.
One Ghanaian provided a rather interesting point as he boldly stated that Gyan has lost form and is a spent horse. He stated that if Gyan is picked then he will have no choice than to also start training and play for the Black Stars.
With Ghana heading to the mundial, many players are considering a chance to play on the biggest stage in football. Asamoah Gyan mentioned that he is currently training after sitting out due to an injury. He concluded that surprises can happen
“Anything can happen. It has happened before. Talking about Cameroon in 1994 with Roger Milla coming out of retirement to play in a world cup. I haven’t retired yet. I haven’t announced my retirement. I have been out for almost 2 years due to injuries. I just need to get my body back in shape. I have started training and I will see how my body reacts in playing competitive football” Asamoah Gyan said
Should Asamoah Gyan be taken to Qatar as a player or as a technical team member to boost the player? Check out the video of the comment made by the Ghanaian supporter with the link below
