UEFA Champions League group stage draw(Everything you need to know)

The world of football is coming to a standstill today with tensions set to rise as UEFA is set for the Champions league group stage Draw slated today, August 26, 2021 for the 2021/2022 season . The event is being held in the Turkish capital, Istanbul at 18:00 CET.

The draw will be covered by several media platforms and streamed on the official website of UEFA, .

Ghanaian legendary midfielder and Chelsea legend Michael Essien has been called on to be a special guest of honor and will be assisting in the Champions league draw today for the 2021/2022 season.

The Champions league group draw will be determined by draw pots which will be confirmed before the draw. A total of thirty-two teams will be split into 8 groups of four each. Out of these 32 teams, twenty six teams qualified automatically from their local leagues with the remaining six(6) being determined by champions league qualification play offs.

The 32 teams from their respective countries


Four teams are Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea


Five teams are Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Villarreal


Four teams are Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atlanta, Juventus


Four teams are Bayern Munich, Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg


Two teams are PSG and LOSC


Three teams are Sporting CP, Porto, Benfica

Netherlands: Ajax

Russia : Zenit

Astria: Salzburg

Belgium: Club Brugge

Ukraine: Dynamo Kyiv, Shakhtar Donetsk

Turkey: Beşiktaş

Switzerland: Young BS

Sweden: Malmö

Moldova: Sheriff

The match days for the group stages will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and these are the dates.

Matchday 1: September 14-15, 2021 

Matchday 2: September 28-29, 2021

Matchday 3: October 19-20, 2021

Matchday 4: November 2-3, 2021

Matchday 5: November 23-24, 2021 

Matchday 6: December 7-8, 2021
