Ghanaian midfield enforcer Kevin Prince Boateng has been given a new one-year deal following the expiration of his contract with his club Hertha Berlin. The new deal will end after the 2022/23 season. Boateng has been phenomenal for the Bundesliga outfit last season. He was at the forefront of their fight against relegation last season. He was instrumental when they defeated Hamburg 2-1 on aggregate in the playoffs.

The MD of the club paid glowing tributes to the player. He said "We have seen the importance Prince has in our team, not only in the relegation (play-off). He leads by example and pulls everyone along. These are exactly the qualities we need in the coming season” Hertha managing director Fredi Bobic said. The upturn in form of Boateng has made some Ghanaians argue for him to be included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming World Cup.
They are of the view that his experience will be of immense help to the team in Qatar.
