Breaking: Asante Kotoko Suffer Heavy Defeat at Baba Yara Stadium

Asante Kotoko’s quest to stretch their lead on top of the league table was given a jolt when Legon Cities FC shocked them at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The Royals coach, Maxwell Konadu led his side to beat his former side in week 26 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Michel Otou converted Legon Cities opener from the penalty spot on the 17th minute after Jonah Attuquaye was brought down by Christopher Nettey in the goal area. Hans Kwoffie scored the second goal for the Royals on the 28th minute mark much to shock of the scanty home fans.

Kotoko got a goal back when substitute, Salifu Mudasiru rose to head home from Imoro Ibrahim’s corner kick to put the game at 2-1 on the 42nd minute. Legon Cities made the score line 3-1 when Hans Kwoffie got his second goal after diving to connect Jonah Attuquaye’s cross on the 47th minute.

Asante Kotoko still remain on top of the league log despite the big defeat to Legon Cities FC at the Baba Yara Stadium. They now have 52 points at the top of the table after 26 matches into the 2021/22 league season with Bechem United who are yet to play their game in second with 44 points.
