West Africa Football Academy could afford a smile after earning their first three points of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The Academy Boys were awarded a questionable penalty late in their week five clash against Great Olympics in Sogakope in Saturday. Military man-cum WAFA striker, Justus Torsutse scored from the spot with a few seconds to close the match and and go on five points from five games. Central defender of the side, Konadu Yiadom says they paid back Great Olympics for beating them at home last season.
“What I will say is, when could not win a game at the start of the season. “It’s our first win, it will motivate us in our upcoming games to do much much better. “When we lose at home it really affects us so we were determined to beat Great Olympics to revenge for last season. That was the motivating factor.” Konadu Yiadom said.
WAFA suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Great Olympics last season with Kelvin Boakye-Yiadom as a villain - gifting the two time league champions an own goal after Gladson Awako’s opener. The Acaemy Boys fought back from two goals down to pull level in the game through now Hearts Hearts of Oak forward, Enoch Esubonteng and Justus Torsutsey. Burly striker, Mannan Mudasiru rose from the bench to slot home Great Olympics third. WAFA will be the guests of two time Ghana champions, Aduana Stars in week six at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in December.
