Gyamfi was released by Asante Kotoko after four glittering seasons where he also served as a deputy captain at the latter part of his career. The diminutive winger was then snapped up by Aduana Stars in a 2-year deal and has been a delight for coach Joseph Asare Bediako’s set up. Despite hitting the ground running in the 2021/22 league season, the 26-year-old says, the pressure that comes with playing for Kotoko is higher compared to Aduana Stars.
“I had a very good pre-season with Aduana Stars, I think that’s helping me much because last season I didn’t start well in a form of pre-season; I didn’t get it so this time I started well and it’s helping me a lot. “What I could say is the pressure there [at Kotoko] is not just as the same here because you could see numerous of supporters of Asante Kotoko and then as compared to Aduana Stars. “I think they [Aduana FC] are a bit limited and then they are giving me that maximum support also here so I guess that has been some changes that has motivated me a lot. “I wish to have more goals because as a player, the match you score is when you get the name ahead of you and I’m happy to score on my birthday day. “I just celebrated like three days today and I’m very happy because without my teammates, I wouldn’t have been elected as the Man-of-the-match.” Emmanuel Gyamfi said.
Gyamfi, who has a blistering pace, has scored four goals in six games this season with Aduana Stars climbing into second position. The two time Ghana champions made light work of West Africa Football Academy in week six - beating them 3-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday. Emmanuel Gyamfi wove his way from the left side of attack before finding Hafiz Adams who kept his composure and slotted in the opener at 29 minutes.
Gyamfi, who was the provider of the first goal, turned the scorer this time after fetching two goals on the 32nd and the 70th minute to just put the game beyond the struggling WAFA. His performance earned him the MVP of the match. They go on 11 points out of a possible 18 - climbing into second behind Asante Kotoko who sit on 13 points from five games. The Porcupine Warriors host neighbors, King Faisal on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
