GPL: Asante Kotoko Drop Points For The First Time This Season

Asante Kotoko have dropped points for the first time this season after playing goalless draw with Karela United at Anyinase. 

Despite the away draw, the porcupine warriors sit top of the league table with 13 points. The draw has denied Asante Kotoko the opportunity to win their opening five matches of the season. 

Both sides stared the game with a clear intention of picking all points. Intense start o the game. 

Karela United made a bold move for glory as Samuel Appiah deals with a cross into Asante Kotoko area but the ball was blocked. 

Asante Kotoko later responded with an attack through Isaac Oppong as he lobs a through pass to Samuel Boateng but he was slow to react.

but Mudasiru's rebound was cleared. 

Karela United came back for possession as they bosses midfield, pressing for the opener as Umar Basiru puts his head to a corner kick but his header found the other side of the goal post. 

The two sides continued to enjoy passes whiles hunting for an available opportunity to score. Few tackles came through form Karela United and Asante Kotoko. 

Asante Kotoko almost got their way through as Mfegue was pushed down by Papa Kwofie as he picks a through ball close to the box. The resultant kick by Imoro's eluded the empty net narrowly. 

Karela United replied as they restarted an attack winning free kick at the edge of the box, but delivery was brought under control by Asante Kotoko defenders. 

The two sides entertained spectators with an end to end action, creating decent chances which should have been buried in some instances but ended the first half goal less. 

After recess, Asante Kotoko controlled affairs as Ibrahim Imoro's teasing cross was almost headed into the net by Karela player. 

Asante Kotoko were reduced to ten men after Richard Boadu was red carded for an offense. 

Karela United took advantage of the numbers to get the lead but Humin Mohammed had his move ruled offside. 

Isaac Oppong managed to get a way out but shot wide. 

The two sides kept the push for goal but the final delivery was not potent for glory. 

Both teams shared spoils as they failed to put the ball at the back of the net.
