Brazilian Fabio Gama starts as Asante Kotoko names strong lineup against King Faisal this afternoon

Asante Kotoko helmsman Prosper Nartey Ogum has named a strong starting XI for this afternoon's Ghana Premier League, GPL game with city rivals king Faisal Babes.

The Porcupines will play as the away side in this Matchday 23 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi with kick off set for 3:00pm local time.

Needing the three points as they chase the diadem at the end of the campaign, Coach Ogum has gone with a trusted XI against their neighbours.

Club captain Ismael Abdul Ganiyu misses this game after picking up a red card in their last fixture against Karela United at the same venue last Monday.

Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim returns to the starting lineup as is Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama dos Santos with Mudasiru Salifu captaining the side.

Also starting is Cameroonian striker Georges Mfegue after returning from injury. He starts together with their leading marksman Frank Etouga Mbella as Kotoko goes for the win.

Justice Nkuku Blay also starts in midfield together with Richard Boadu with defender Yussif Mubarak taking the pace of the suspended Ganiyu.

Kotoko will have revenge on their minds as they confront a King Faisal side that has beaten them twice already this season.

Faisal won the first round encounter 3-2 and also knocked out Asante Kotoko from the FA Cup competition winning 1-0.

This is expected to be another closely fought affair as both sides seek the three points for separate agendas.

Kotoko top the standing by eight points and will want to preserve that with a win whilst Faisal started the campaign in a high but have dropped in form and, they will look for the win to revive their hopes.

In other matches this afternoon, WAFA will host Aduana FC at Sogakope; Gold Stars plays Dreams FC at home; Eleven Wonders hosts Accra Lions; Karela United will welcome Elmina Sharks to Anyinase with Legon Cities playing AshantiGold SC in Accra.
